I don't know half of you half as well as I should like;
and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.
Well it's been a while since I've updated...it's amazing how busy life can get. Sugar and I are finally moved in, and we have curtains, which is a plus because it's really weird having the feeling that people are watching you. We also just got a couch, so in turn I set up the surround sound for my computer and we settled down to watch a movie for the first time since we moved in a few weeks ago.
I decided not to pull any big blog April Fools jokes this year, so be forewarned everything I say is completely true. As I think about it, that probably worries more of you than if I hadn't mentioned April Fools at all. Be that as it may, after a random twist of fate, my brother bought a vehicle in Arizona and he and I will fly down to pick it up this weekend, so if anyone wants to pray for our many hour trip back that would rock.
Also I finished up a pretty cool project this weekend. For my Computer Graphics class I had to create a program that showed a scene of my choosing which then included a whole bunch of primitive shapes within that scene. While the picture looks like it may have been done on paint and the animation isn't anything all that special, I assure you that it is actually not all that easy to do and that it took quite a bit of work to get it the way it is. For your enjoyment you may watch the animation by downloading and running the file linked here. Don't worry it doesn't have any viruses or spyware in it, which is of course good.
Have a happy!
Umm.. road trip on Easter ftw?
Ok for those of you that really think this is an April fool joke. My hubby and HT are really going to Arizona. And HT might I add i am fairly jealous! I told sugar yesterday but a two day trip to Arizona with two kids and being pregnant does not sound like a boat load of fun to me! Have a great time. I will be wishing I was with you guys the whole time!
Oh and PS HT your file won't download correctly. It is telling us there is something missing!
hmmm maybe I have to include the opengl dll file...
I'll put a zip up later today with both things in it and see if it works.
I fixed the problem and updated the link. As I thought, I forgot to add the dll file (most of you have no idea what that means, but that's okay).
wow that is so bad
You better not be talking about my project or I'll come over there and kick your butt.
I'd like to see you do it, come on - do it, code it in opengl I dare you.
roffle
psh... i'd own that in flash any day
What happened to the sun?
yeah but that's not flash, and it's used for totally different things - own it in opengl and talk to me later. I can do better in paint too but it's not paint, we're not talking about chinso windows programs to make things easy.
Hey uh.. Dan, my man can outsmart you in coding any day 10 to 1. ;)
Hmm... coding you say...?
Who built their blog from top to bottom
and who used movable type?
I guess you have to qualify what you mean by coding.
In fact.. the other day he was asking me how to do something in java... my how the roles have reversed ;-D
hey, the redirect link failed again... it takes you to your actual xanga page (where three people have left comments)
glad to hear you've moved in well! that link didn't work from the xanga site, but maybe it'll work here?
You did not just suggest that you're better at Java than me did you...lol wow.
On to your argument though, I use movable type because there's no reason for me to waste my time coding my own system when one is available. Ironic because you said yourself that you were somehow superior for using Flash but then claimed that I was less so for using mt.
You can keep your simple web languages though, I'll stay with C, C++, and Java if you don't mind.
Simple?? Yeah.. I see how it is... DHTML, XHTML1.1, javascript, php, mysql, actionscript, flash (yes, there is programming in flash), java, VB6...
Yeah.. mhmm.. try again?
-------------
Tom: how would you wait for a period of time in java (wait(1000etc) doesn't do anything)
me: sleep? main is still a thread, so thread controls work
Tom: ahh sleep
Yes I forgot one function in Java sue me.
As for your list of internets languages, yes they are on a whole more simple. Argue with me if you'd like but it is what it is. That of course doesn't make them bad, I've certainly enjoyed my run with vb, php, mysql and of course javascript, not to mention html, and html++ but they are still simpler.
pshh.. you couldn't code your way out of a php/mysql bag if your life depended on it
*observes mental battle* I find this all very amusing... xD
Not that my one bit counts, but I would like to point out that Dan has done a wonderful job helping me with the concepts of java... xD
That's cause I would never code myself into a php/mysql bag. ;-)
Oh and I taught Dan everything he knows about Java. lol (well maybe not everything but I did help him through a few of those metaphorical bags in projects he had a semester or two ago)
You are right though, it is quite humorous, and I think I'm going to close this post now before we start thinking each other is serious and start hating over programming languages or something lol.
