I don't know half of you half as well as I should like;
and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

Trip Part 55 - I have returned

Contrary to what you may have heard, I did in fact survive my trip out west and back, and I did not purchase any cattle of any sort along the way. I did however do quite a few more things.

On Saturday 4/7/07 I ...
...woke up to a phone call at 4:40 A.M. informing me that I overslept.
...showed up at the airport and found out that the trip started at 6:00 A.M. and not 6:30 A.M.
...flew to NYC and then got on a flight to Phoenix AZ, spending nearly 6 hours in the air.
...waited outside the Phoenix airport for a shuttle that was looking for us elsewhere but we fortunately caught anyway.
...rode in a shuttle for nearly 2 hours which was substantially longer than expected
...waited for a half hour while the guy came to show us the truck
...took a look at the truck and my bro purchased it a while later
...took the truck for its first oil change in my bro's possession
...finally, several hours behind schedule left on a trip across most of the country at 4:30 PST

All in all those several hours behind schedule got us home at 10:30 A.M. Monday April 9th after...

...1 stop at Waffle House
...4 stops for fast food
...5 liters of Mountain Dew
...over 132 gallons of diesel fuel
...39 hours and
...around 2428 miles

It was quite the trip to be sure - and for your viewing pleasure here is the path we took (not optimal in every sense) but pretty good.

Well, I'm glad you're keeping track of the important statistics (such as amount of Mountain Dew consumed). Glad you made it back safe and all that jazz!

I've been on that road from MO to NY several times (well, the OH to NY part several times...). Your useless random fact for the day :)

It is very nice to see it so nicely marked out on a map. I am sure that your parents will be happy to find out that the cattle thing wasn't so! Especially if your mom read the last post;) Anyway Again I thank you for making the trip with him!

I have done very similar, except that I started north of Phoenix in Flagstaff and drove up to denver from Albaquerqe NM. Then east from there. I think it took the same amount of time though.

.. i went to a waffle house once.. i got eggs.. instead of waffles.. i think that kinda defeats the purpose of going to a waffle house.. but hey..

Only cuz we want you to think that way. Madep part of that same trip, cept i went dead of summer. Hopefully you guys had ac!. Be glad you didnt go from San diego to AZ- New Mexico's idea of "Rest area ahead" is a set of port-a-potty's lined up between the 2 lanes of interstate traffic. seriously. Glad you had safe trip tho, lotsa storms brewin this time of year

Being stuck on an airplane for 10 hours was preferable to what I had to endure from those Northwest jerks. Next time you're online, I'll tell you the whole story (mine, and 2 other people who had similarly horrific experiences).
