I don't know half of you half as well as I should like;
and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

Now here's a first

I have been looking forward to this moment since I knew I would be in North Carolina for the winter, we actually got a snow. Now you must realize that snow in Central NC is rare enough as it is, but this winter has been incredibly warm even by their standards. It was only a few days ago that we had 75 degree record high temperatures. Of course the rest of the country is getting hit by a huge storm so I guess it makes sense that we would too.

It was great, Sugar and I were leaving for work, and we walk out the door and just stop and gasp. It was like seeing our first snow all over again. We both got these big smiles on our faces and we just stopped to take it all in. It wasn't a lot mind you, and truth be told most of it is already melted, but it was fantastic none the less. I'd say all in all there was an inch or so that had actually accumulated, some of which had melted even before we opened our door since the snow had already turned to rain.

The real story is what this did to NC. I've heard all about terrible drivers and runs on stores and such, and had wanted to see this for myself. As for the runs on the stores, there were none to be found. The weather guys say that the storm didn't hit us hard because the ground was warm and the water didn't ice like it could have. I'm guessing this is why the city didn't shut down. The traffic situation was different and makes you wish that the city did in fact shut down. There were over 200 accidents in what is a relatively small metropolitan area and it makes me glad that I was able to stay at home for work. It's not that I don't like driving in snow, it's that I don't like driving with the other idiots who don't know how to drive in the snow. All in all it was a good experience and if nothing else I can return home saying - "I saw it snow in North Carolina!"

Yay for snow . . . we actually had some for snow camp! I love the described reaction. People who can't drive in snow amuse me, unless I'm driving with them, and then they just irritate me. For some reason they like to slow down when there's snow on the road, which I don't get . . .

Its a lot like Floridians not knowing how to drive in the rain. I mean in the summer time you can practically set your clock to the 3:00 afternoon shower, but yet everyday there is multiple accidents (I also live in a relatively small town). Snow would be nice tho..... might have to put my shorts away and actually wear pants for a change
