I don't know half of you half as well as I should like;
and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.
A new bill was just introduced into the Texas Legislature to allow blind people to be able to participate in all forms of hunting.
Dwell on that for a moment will you...no no keep dwelling. Texas is likely to legalize hunting for blind people. Those in favor of the bill say that it will bring the enjoyment of hunting to a wider group of people. Now I don't mean to be intolerant but I think blind people probably should be seeking entertainment in places that better suit them, say perhaps listening to the local symphony or using the drive through ATMs with braille.
Now in the politicians' defense, they are not suggesting that blind people grab a gun and go shooting without any help. The bill would allow blind people to go hunting if accompanied by a person with sight who could help the blind person aim with a specialized gun which has its sight mounted on the side so the person who can see can look through it to make sure the blind person is aimed at the right target. They would also be allowed to be used certain banned tools such as laser sights to help them.
Besides the absolute absurdity of what this bill suggests, what does the blind person really get out of this? The rush of firing a gun? They could just as easily be allowed into supervised shooting ranges and be allowed to fire one there. I just don't see the purpose of this, and I do see the opportunity for this to go very very wrong. It's not likely anyone would actually get hurt, except maybe the blind person, but it all just seems very silly and pointless. What are we going to do next allow blind people into the military? Actually I think we elect "blind" politicians instead.
Uh....yeah as loving as I am towards most activities and types of people, I have to say that letting a blind man/woman wield a gun and go hunting is just plain irresponsible. I don't even care if they never get a chance to go shooting, I'm sorry, but you'll never get to look at a landscape either. Deal with it.
and I thought that most polititains don't like guns...but, considering that it's texas, they are excluded from that. They come up with the most interesting bills, but I do have to say that that is the stupidest one I've heard of in a while...~Leah
I had already replied to Dan's comment on his site, but yes, I did know about the flaw, but in all reality it's no bigger than the flaw in the girls are evil logic, if girls are time AND money, then the correct mathematical symbol is a plus sign, not a multiplication sign, and thus the rest of the theory from there on out is flawed, since the next step is converting to money, so it is then 2Xmoney, not money squared... =P
Well.. that sense, girls are scalably evil and not factorially
nuts I was hoping she didn't know math well enough to catch that fallacy, silly ol' world ;-) Also funny how only two people actually commented on my post...
I read your post, just didn't comment on it... =P I felt it was more important to point out that alot of these joke proofs have flaws in them, and that the creators of them rely on the fact that the vast majority of people don't look closely enough at the math won't notice it... and that was true, since it was only you and stretch who noticed that flaw I tried to mask, just as you tried to mask that girls are evil one...
so in regards to your post, I personally think that it wasn't the wisest decision for that to be passed either...
