I don't know half of you half as well as I should like;
and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.
I've been lax in updating lately because I've had many topics to write about but none that I felt like writing a lot about. Most of you are probably saying, "well good maybe we won't have to see huge entries anymore." Well maybe, but today there's a few things I'd like to cover so bear with me as I try to get to all of them in short time.
I'd like to start out by going back to my last entry for a moment. For starters the Da Vinci code was released this past weekend to absolutely horrible reviews and made millions of dollars. A few co-workers were talking about it and saying how great it was and wondering whether what it was talking about was true or not. And I quote, "it's pretty hard to believe He didn't have a wife, I mean Jesus was a man after all." I don't even know where to begin with that, but it illustrates the fact that our society is looking to discount Christianity at all costs. If we can take God out of the picture then we can remove our moral compass and we then do not have to answer to said God.
I also last talked about 9/11 conspiracies and lo and behold this week a new Zogby poll was released showing that 70% of Americans are interested in having another investigation into the 9/11 attacks and that a large percentage of them think that the government either had something to do with the attacks, or allowed them to take place. It is sad to see our country polluted by such utter nonsense. Each and every conspiracy theory, relating to 9/11, falls apart in the most simplistic way. No matter what you think about the war in Iraq, or President Bush, or the United States it is stupidity to think that this was a government cover-up. You are the ones being blinded you fools.
Schools are of course always at the forefront of most of our minds. Most of you are still attending them, some of you are sending children to one, and most all of us will in some way or another school our future children in some manner or form. What's the most recent news? A high school in Libertyville, Illinois will now be monitoring student blogs and students can receive disciplinary action based on what they post online. Now I'm all for being careful with sites such as MySpace and Xanga and it's caused me to change my outlook on blogging quite a few times but someone neglected to mention to this school that there is such a thing as the First Amendment. Perhaps they've decided that it doesn't apply to minors but that would be an incorrect. Should parents watch what their children are doing online? - Yes. Are most parents? - No. Does that somehow make it the school district's responsibility? - No. I can see monitoring of these sites for suspicious activity, perhaps to prevent sexual assault, or perhaps to prevent violence, but giving children punishment for posting things online is not legal and it should be stopped immediately. Who wants to guess what the first prosecuted offence will be? I'm going to put my money on some Christian saying some sin or another is wrong and thereby committing hate speech. A slippery road to say the least.
Edit: For clarification, I'm not talking about kids on school computers, I'm talking about schools monitoring sites kids go to in their own homes on their own computers.
I think it would be a disservice to those who know me for me to not mention last night's 24. All I can say is: wow! This season was great, I don't think it quite holds up to Season 1, and Season 2 is close behind, but I've got to tell you it was quite a ride and I'm looking forward to what next season has in store for Jack Bauer and can you say China?? To those commenting try to leave out plot points, I know some people who read this who have a desire to watch some of the seasons and would prefer them not spoiled. Speaking of which, I'm planning a straight through running of 24 Season 1, on June 24th. Anyone interested let me know.
.. dude.. the school really cant do anything about what they post on their blogs.. thats the parents job.. as far as monitoring sites go.. yeah.. i think its a good idea.. to keep them off of certian sites.. and if by some chance they do get on a site they shouldnt be.. and get caught.. then the school should take action (given if it happened at school)
parents should be taking better care of the whole blog thing at home.. its not the schools job..
and 24 WAS STINKIN AMAZIN.. wow.. i totally skipped alias.. they ran that show into the ground bad.. but 24. dude.. where has it been all my life..
the presidents wife is AWESOME!.. you see the smile see gave when he looked at her.. hahaha.. (as though not to give out to much info for those that read this)
i thought that was the last season for 24?... like.. no more.. but they did leave a LOT open..
..
what i learned from 24:
happy music.. usually means.. some one is gonna get "jack"ed.. hahahahahah
shanna
Hey Handsome. About the monitoring of blogs--I know our school tries to keep kids off those sites on the school computers, but only because of their non-educational nature. I know they don't go as far as discplining because of content. Scary.
hey...like the countdown, can't wait! And I hear congrats are in order...I hope God will bless the both of you in all you do! Praise God for He is good!
have agreat day.
P.s. like your xanga name it pretty much rocks!
a girl @ school used her myspace to bash her boss.
boss creates acct
boss finds bashing
girl gets fired.
Yeah.... 24 was just amazing.... I couldn't tare myself away from my seat..... oh wait... I didn't watch it. One day. ;) Pretty much my school administrators monitered all I did on the internet, and I definitely could've gotten disciplinary action if I went somewhere or did something knowingly that I wasn't suppose to. It was scary.. I couldn't get away with anything. Keep your smile. :) ~Sugar ptlwa
*alias series finale*
basically went down as such... (from what i read online.. i didnt watch it)
Syd and Vaughn live in "retirement" together on some secluded beach house with two kids. Dixon is some higher up in the CIA, with cornrows. Marshall and his wife have four kids. Rachel is still a CIA agent. Sark (spared his life by Vaughn) is still up to no good. Irina Derevko falls through a skylight and dies trying to reach for The Horizon (a Rambaldi device) instead of taking Syd's hand to safety. Sloane attains immortality through The Horizon, but is trapped in an underground tomb in Mongolia pinned under a Rambaldi statue. Jack gets shot fatally by Sloane, but he manages to blow up some explosives inside the tomb to trap Sloane forever.
Eh, I'm unimpressed. I'm glad I never waisted my time on that show.
umm.. well you see.. the whole happy ending thing for alias is pretty much what no one expected. finales have always been the most outrageous things ever, so ending happily was quite outrageous.
alias has historically been a pretty good show the majority of the time... i'm sad to see its over tho.
