I don't know half of you half as well as I should like;
and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

Here at last...

Well here at last we are about to stumble on the biggest game of the year. The bowl above all bowls, the one that transcends imagination...the one we have thusly dubbed - Super.

That's right; this year - as is the custom of our nation - we sit down in front of the television and feast our eyes on two teams as they seek out the ultimate crown of glory, the ultimate victory. They have worked hard, they have prepared and now here they are at last and to these two teams anything less than a championship victory is unacceptable. Whether they have been forced to run the table like the Steelers, or were fortunate to play a soft schedule like the Seahawks each team has had some good, quality wins and need not forget what got them here.

This Sunday in particular is when the impact players come alive, and we see who has a passion for the game, and in the end the team that wanted it more will of course come out on top. For no matter what anyone says - there is no tomorrow for either team, because it is all about today.

I look forward to catching a glimpse of the looks on the faces of these players as the goalie takes his first step out onto the field and sets up to throw out the first pitch. While I have no doubt that Pittsburg can score from anywhere on the ice, I think we need to watch out for the Seahawks' attempts to use their fantastic dribbling skills to their advantage. Dominating the paint is key, and I expect we shall see a lot of aggressive checking on the defensive side of the ball.

With the speed of the Steelers, it is unlikely that the Seahawks will be able to get them on many double plays, and I expect we shall see the hawks going for as many three pointers as possible. Playing above the rim is a must for the Steelers and we'll see if they can handle the pressure. Fortunately they've been getting good run support from their point guard and that will be helpful in the final innings.

Look for a tough game dominated by the defenses but controlled by the offenses. I suspect that if these two teams keep doing what they've been doing all seasons, we're going to get one of the best matches in recently history. So I think I shall hold my breath until that first serve and will then be glued to the TV until the final gun. Who will win the Triple Crown? - It's anyone's guess.

That was hilarious. =D Who would think of something like that?! I was expecting another football-obsessed rant like I've been hearing from every football fan lately, but that bached. No references to lacrosse, but that's okay.

Hahahaha that was great Tom!

I don't find it funny disrespecting the many men who come to the feild once a year in hopes of glory, and fame.....who am I kidding they still get their million dollar paychecks whether they win or lose oh well GO Patriots! (next season of course)

Somehow I feel I must edit the above comment to take out the silly yet slanderous last statement. I shall however allow freedom of speech to continue - for now.

OMGosh!!!! XD that was so funny! I still swear there's some reporter in you somewhere... it started off so strong, and ended... in athletic terminology turmoil!!!!! utter chaos insues! pandemonium rules! anyways, I can see you're looking forward to the game! XD Although i think I'm looking forward more to feasting upon food instead of feasting my eyes upon the tv... no, it is much more entertaining to watch those that watch teh game... sudden outbursts of "NOOOOOO!!!!!" and 'RUN RUN RUNRUNRUN!!!!" and the like are QUITE entertaining! =D

this super bowl isnt as super as past ones. Im not too terribly fond of either team. I like Alexander though...so i guess im for the Seahawks. He was giving his testimony on some radio station the other day at work. It was pretty cool.

Very nice Tom! I had to reread the first couple of senteneces until I got it!

I bet if John Madden had said that nobody would have paid enough attention to get the wildly differing sports references. Madden is never coherent anyways :D
as far as I'm concerned, anything any sports announcer ever says at any time is really a bunch of incoherent babble
except the figureskating announcers, then it's not even english
I think football announcers are the sillyest (especially the south american ones)
and by football I mean soccer
because that's it's real name

I mean come on! when do american football players ever make contact with the ball useing their feet? I say we change the name to 'fat guy pile up' ball

okay it's like totally four and a half in the mornin
time for a short nap

so who's doing the 0.5chronos show anyway?

Posted by: Dan | February 4, 2006 7:59 PM

The Rolling Stones...let's hope they don't have any below the belt "wardrobe malfunctions" like Janet had above the belt.

naked old me - weird mental picture...*find a happy place, find a happy place*

*sigh...

Why do the super bowl half time shows always feature losers?

Its always either pop dorks like Justin Timberlake and Britney, or old people like Paul McCartney and Sting.

Not saying that secular music is the best, but there are a lot better choices out there - 3 DOors down for instance... they have some pretty down to earth, patriotic type songs.

LOL. Nice pre-game commentary.

Nice HT, I liked the entire sarcastic mood of it. Definitely better then the normal "sports announcement". I'm not even watching because neither team is big to me. (oh, and because I'll be at work, and because we don't have a television) but outside of those minor issues, I'm not even watching. :)

Wow.. so yeah.. they pulled the Will & Grace episode!

Voices were heard

Posted by: Dan | February 6, 2006 12:33 PM

They were indeed -> I won't post a follow up article about it, but if you're really interested go google the situation.

The Will & Grace episode will not be anything like their press release said. NBC of course cites that they have yet to write the episode yet...haha riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight

Posted by: HT | February 6, 2006 2:18 PM

Hey, that's good about the episode.
Oh, the answer to your question is on my site, because other people may have been wondering the same thing.
