I don't know half of you half as well as I should like;
and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.
Well if this isn't the biggest Oxymoron in a while I'm not sure what is. It has just been announced that none other than Britney Spears will be giving a guest performance on NBC's Will & Grace. You may be asking yourself...what's so odd about that? At first I didn't think there was anything abnormal either, until I read the story.
It turns out that Britney will be playing the part of a conservative Christian talk show host.
... ... ...
Okay you can now close your mouth as it has most certainly dropped to the floor. Let's take this apart piece by piece shall we? In the first place, I don't know how many of you have seen her pictures flash by on the TV, but the last thing in the world that Britney is would be "conservative" that is unless you mean that she conserves clothing material by not wearing any. I almost posted a picture on this entry as an example but even Google's safe search couldn't come up with any pictures that I would let on my blog. She may have to wear more clothes than she has in her entire life in order to play this part...but somehow I doubt that she'll even do that. Get ready for a very underdressed conservative on this show.Secondly, I personally don't listen to Britney's music, but even I know that "Hit me baby one more time," is not referring to a boxing match. Lets be honest, there is nothing "Christian" (in any sense of the word) about Britney Spears. On top of all of that, the show Will & Grace has homosexual themes which are in their nature anti-Christian themes.
Can Britney pull off the acting milestone of her life by doing a part which is so opposite to everything she is and has stood for over the past 10 years -> not likely, and actually from what I read on the news posting about this, look for her doing some very unchristian things when "Will and Jack loosen her up."
It'd be nice to see Christian's portrayed in a good way for once...haha silly me like that's going to happen.
Well... I think one of the first problems is that Britney is acting..
The rest is just par for this world.
That's sick. I'm sorry, but that kind of made me mad . . . there are a few words I could come up with to describe that girl, but as I'm not sure how far the conservativism of the readers of this site extends, we'll just say that I can't even imagine having respect for that . . . person. Blech.
Wait, Tom watches Will and Grace? Isn't that a cheasy soap opera for girls?
-Daniel
Now wait just a second here! Nowhere in that post did I say that I watch Will & Grace...sheesh.
No, I do not now, nor have I ever seen Will & Grace, and I certainly don't plan on tuning in anytime soon and especially not to see Britney play a "christian."
psh!
Gross! Britney is a disgrace to womankind....
hey, I agree with ht on that... I know what the theme of alot of shows out there are, though I have never actually seen them... you hear things through people who do watch it, see comercials about it perhaps, or see the newest episode advertised on your yahoo homepage! =)
and I am shocked and apalled at this, but it's no surprise in the fact that christians are continually shown in a bad light in the media... take movies like 'saved' or shows like 'the book of daniel' (i think that was what it was called) and they are preaching the exact opposite of christian beliefs! Christians are becoming the butt of jokes, being degraded and pushed aside through these seemingly harmless little guestures, but then those guestures start to build up and all respect is lost... If something isn't done soon, that opression will turn to greater measures and eventually lead to perscution... scary thoughts, really... the spiritual battle is starting to get more intense...
on a sidenote, alot of those phrases were really funny! XD you SURE you've never had any journaling experience, been around one who is a journalist? something like that?
well, have an awesome day and God bless!

that's really sad..... I think one of the main issues here is how people think of Christians. Isn't there some odd statistic about how many people claim to be Christians in the U.S.?? Now we all know that we can't trust statistics, but quite honestly Christians in the world are not protrayed as those who follow Christ... they are more like people who just try to be good. One of your own quotes is, "A Christian is like a kamakazi pilot who has made 10 missions" or something like that. I don't know.... I'm done rambling though. :) Keep your smile, Sweetheart ~Sugar ptlw
not to take credit for what I didn't write, the quote was:
"Commitment to the average Christian is like a kamikaze pilot who flew 30 missions." -- Dr. Ken Hutcherson
Yeah...oxymoron would be an understatement.
wow...thats pretty sad. Maybe they can snag michael as a naacp leader for an upcoming episode too.
oxymoron?
try total moron
I'd say that just about anyone you ask will think she's just that. it's amazing she still makes money
EWWWWW. I dont like will and grace. And i dont really like britney spears. She reminds me of those girls all through school that I always avoided because they were the drama queen attention grabbing type. Anyway, this just puts two bad things together.
I think I just threw up in my mouth a little.
whoever did the casting on that part.. should be fired.. as well as the script writer :P i doubt they even make those ppl go to school for that crap anymore.. with the movies and shows that have been coming out lately.. they either have remakes of movies.. or some stupid ones.. like brokeback mountain..
and i agree with zepuka christians will prolly always be butt of jokes in teh media..
its the world we live in..
and it is truly sad
that is super not cool. Why are Christians always portrayed this way? *grrr*
